Chevob & Cie

Geneva. Est. 1873. The Successors to Baker-Troll, Chevob et Cie, is stated on a 15 5/8 diameter disc-playing musical box which has been found.

A cylinder musical box has been seen bearing the inscription: `Chevob & Cie. Late Baker-Troll & Co. By special appointment to HM the Khedive of Egypt, Sept. 7, 1907. 6, rue Bonivard, Geneva´.

Nothing further is known about this company other than that they produced (or factored) at least one style of table model disc-playing musical box. See also Baker, Geo.
(Ord-Hume, Musical Boxes, p. 299)

Paul Bellamy reports: "Chevob & Co. took over at an unconfirmed date. Although both Troll and Baker were makers they also traded other makers´ products. The status of Chevob, whether agent or maker, is unknown and few musical box examples exist. Chevob dealt mostly in disc musical boxes but also small cartel movements with tune sheets headed: Chevob & Co. late BAKER TROLL & Co.
A Mira disc box label states: `Chevob & Co, late Baker-Troll & Co, manufacturers, Geneva´. Mira was a trade name for Mermod Frères who made them in Saint Croix from 1902 onwards." (Paul Bellamy: Tune Sheets, p. 2/1)
