Procida Bucalossi, *1832, †1918, (wie Lecocq), war ein italienisch-englischer Komponist leichter Musik und der bei weitem bedeutendste einiger Musiker namens Bucalossi

 

His first comic opera, Pom (London, 1876), was fairly successful. He annoyed The Times who commented „Its only merit is in the music for which Signor Bucalossi is not so much responsible as are Offenbach and Lecocq.“

 

The waltz My Queen (1860), arranged by Charles Coote jun., is often to be heard on Swiss music boxes.

 

Furthermore, Procida Bucalossi scored a considerable success with Les Manteaux Noirs in 1882 and got by with Delia (1889) and Br. George (1892).

 

Ernest Bucalossi, *1863, †1933, son of Procida, was a prolific composer best known for his operetta La Gitana (1886) and his Grasshopper dance (1905)
