Dimier Fréres & Cie.

Fleurier, Switzerland. The watchmaking family of Dimier began with Jean Antoine Dimier (1795-1864) from Geneva. His sons, Charles Louis (1822-96) and Auguste Antoine (1824-91) studied watchmaking in La Chaux-du-Fonds and set up their business in Fleurier about 1846. They traded extensively with China and adopted as `trademark´ the Chinese characters which represented their name. This was contained in a sixteen-pointed star. Two key-wound cylinder boxes have been seen by Tillotson in America who dates them at 1845-55. (Ord-Hume, Musical Boxes, p. 301)
