John Berthe, 1875–1894, St. Croix

John Berthe lived in Sainte-Croix and made music boxes there around 1870. However, he did not show them at exhibitions, and the only known specimen of BertheĀ“s production was the donation he made to the hospital lottery in 1879: a music box playing four tunes, of the guitar mandolin type, worth twenty-four francs.
The Johan Berthe company officially ceased all activity on 9th February 1894.
