L. LAWATER

A six-air cylinder-box passed through Christie´s South Kensington auction rooms mid-1978. The case of this key-wound box featured an end flap and the whole case had a step rebated around its outer top edge over with the protruding beaded edge of the lid closed, securing the small, plain end flap and rendering the box dust-proof. The brass bedplate bore the minuscule number 7965 stamped top left, and the tune sheet of brass bore the number 2048 and the legend: `L. Lawater à Geneve´. One of six tunes was Bishop´s `Bid me Discourse´(1820). No record has been found elsewhere of Lawater.
