THORENS INLAID MUSIC BOX WITH 5 INTERCHANGEABLE CYLINDERS Thorens handcrafted music box made in the early 1980s and is part of their Symphonette Collection. Reuge bought out the Thorens music box division in 1985. The Reuge company makes a five cylinder box today that sells $14,000. Unlike the Reuge version which has 1 tune per 3 inch cylinder on 50 note comb, this box plays 4 tunes on 3½ cylinder on a 50 note comb. This interchangeable music box with brass cylinders is precision Made in Switzerland. It plays well and each of the cylinders 4 songs is indicated by a pointer which advances from the 1 - 2 -3 - 4 engraved on a brass canopy above the movement. The spring is wound by winding arbor on top a spring barrel case with the key provided. The key stores neatly inside the cabinet. The mahogany wood case is beautifully grained and there is black ebonized trim molding around the base and lid. The top is beautifully inlaid with flowers and instruments. This handcrafted case measures 16 ½ x 6 x 4 ½. The inside of the the lid is a bright yellow twisted silk rope. The inside, upon opening the inlaid top has a glass dust cover door protecting the brass and steel mechanism. There is a 74037 on the bedplate. There is a brass front startstop slide button. The top is attached to case by a long piano-style brass hinges. Winding key is included and is positioned in the top front key slot. Each Cylinder Plays Four Songs, 50 note cylinder selections listed on inside cover and below. The 5 interchangeable cylinders each play a medley of 4 tunes. Each cylinder is stamped with a identification number 1 thru 5 to discern one from another. The list below includes cylinder number and the tunes on it. The Model 2050B has 5 Interchangeable Brass Cylinders. Inlaid Wood Music Box Cabinet. The top panel is one of the most beautiful of all Mahogany Flitches, a veneer known as Plate 24 of the Mahogany Association. Each Cylinder Plays Four Songs. The case measures 16 ½" x 6" x 4 ½" and is made by famed cabinet maker Lewis Zeyer of the House of Ludwig. The lustrous finish was obtained by rubbing down twelve coats of lacquer. The inside of the the lid and base is a bright gold twisted rope to add to this extrodinary cabinet. The inside, upon opening the inlaid top has a glass & wood second layer that covers the cylinders and the # 77513 Swiss Movement. Locking black push button lever for each of the 2 side cylinders. Brass front start push button. Brass hinges. Winding key is included and is positioned in the top front "key slot".
