A fine ‘Drum Bells Castagnettes’ musical box, by Paillard Vaucher et fils, Serial N° 28323, playing a lively programme of twelve waltz, polka, dance and quadrille airs, with large single-spring motor and main single-section comb, five rose-engine turned tuned bells arranged in three-tier buffet, six hammer woodblock and six hammer snare drum each with plain strikers on individual lever-select, on reeded cast gilt bedplate in ebonised interior under dustlid, colour lithographed Isle Rousseau tunesheet, in finely figured rosewood veneered case, with the front crossbanded in kingwood and boxwood stringing, the matching slight-domed lid with large stained fruitwood floral swag arrangement.
