Interchangeable, 144 airs, made for a royalty Privatbesitz 6693 Made in about 1878, 13“ (33 cm) cylinder shows only 62 teeth, but these are well utilized. The single a tooth is No. 20, relative stiffness 245. Ideal playing speed is 0.12“ per second, so tunes last 50 seconds. The only blank code number is 5 on the bedplate edge, and also on the spring, cylinder and governor components. Serial No. 6693 is stamped in all the usual places, and scribed on bass lead governor, and written in red chalk under the SBI bedplate. The case with fine lid marquetry is 22 by 8 1/2“ (56 by 22 cm) and has 6693 written underneath in 2¾“ (7 cm) figures, not easy to overlook. [...] I tend to incline to the view that this Baker probably did not make Serial No. 6693; more likely PVF. Most Baker-Troll cases depend more on finely figured veneers all round the case and lid than on marquetry inlays; and most of the larger cases have plinths or podii. (Bulleid, Technology, p. 8-10)
