„Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)“

The popular song written in 1892 by British songwriter Harry Dacre.

While in New York, Dacre persuaded singer Katie Lawrence to perform the song when she appeared in London in 1892. The song soon became popular in London music halls, and then a worldwide hit.

In 1961 it is the earliest song sung using computer speech synthesis by the IBM 704 in 1961, a feat which was referenced in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey (Odyssee im Weltraum (Originaltitel: 2001: A Space Odyssey) by Stanley Kubrick 1968).

Composer: Harry Dacre (pen-name of Frank Dean), *1857, †1922), a British songwriter best known for this composition.
